SpaceX, Microsoft & Elcome Partner with Onyx to Deliver Real-Time Intelligence at Sea
How Onyx Data deployed Microsoft Fabric and Copilot to build an industry-first maritime monitoring platform — reducing data latency from minutes to seconds.
Elcome International partnered with Onyx Data and SpaceX to deploy Microsoft Fabric and Copilot as an industry-first maritime monitoring platform. The 12-week engagement reduced data latency from minutes to seconds — delivering real-time broadband connectivity intelligence, ISP-grade performance monitoring, and compliance visibility across Elcome’s fleet operations.
See the Story Behind the Platform
Keeping Vessels Safe in Real Time
Elcome, a leading marine electronics expert based in the UAE, provides critical broadband connectivity to vessels at sea. Their customers need consistent, real-time access to hyperlocalized weather forecasts, shipping traffic reports, and essential logistics data — because at sea, delayed information can mean the difference between safety and danger.
The challenge was clear: data latency was measured in minutes, their existing systems would have taken years to replace, and their small engineering team needed to focus on maritime innovation — not data pipeline management.
Elcome needed a partner who could build a scalable, ISP-grade monitoring platform — fast — without requiring their team to become data scientists.
Building "Welcome" — An Industry-First Platform
Onyx Data deployed Microsoft Fabric and Copilot to create a scalable, ISP-grade monitoring and management platform in a matter of months — not years.
Microsoft Fabric
End-to-end cloud analytics — Real-Time Intelligence, real-time hub, and Data Activator for high-volume, high-granularity events in real time with fewer resources.
Microsoft Copilot
AI capabilities integrated into the platform, streamlining operations and enabling real-time data analysis without requiring data science expertise from Elcome's engineers.
Azure Security & Performance
Azure provides the security foundation and performance backbone, allowing Elcome engineers to focus on customer satisfaction and maritime innovation.
Data Activator
Automatic recognition of data changes to business-critical workloads and environments — triggering alerts and actions when conditions demand immediate response.
When we started talking to the analysts, they said, 'Normally this takes years. How have you guys done it in months?' The answer is Microsoft Fabric — it's a complete game changer for maritime fleet management.
Verified Outcomes
Microsoft validated these results across two separate Customer Stories — the ultimate proof of partnership impact.
Massive Latency Reduction
Data latency reduced from minutes to seconds. Vessels now operate on real-time weather, traffic, and logistics data — not delayed batches.
Scalable & Future-Proof
The Welcome platform grows with Elcome's needs. New satellite constellations, IoT sensors, and port logistics can integrate without re-engineering.
Engineers Freed for Innovation
With Azure and Fabric handling the data infrastructure, Elcome's engineers focus on designing better satellite management and connectivity products.
Enhanced Safety & Connectivity
Improved broadband connectivity keeps vessels and crews safer and better informed, exceeding IMO regulatory standards for data availability.

Microsoft does not publish customer stories as favours. Each story passes editorial review, technical verification, and legal clearance. The outcomes must be documented, the metrics defensible, and the partner relationship substantiated.
When Microsoft attaches its brand to a deployment outcome, it is making an institutional statement: this happened, it mattered, and the approach that produced it is one they endorse.
